Awaken to Pura Vida!

In the tropical paradise of Costa Rica, awaken to pura vida (the country's motto), or the fullness of pure life, appreciating the ebb and flow of nature, freedom in spontaneity, joy in simplicity and solidarity among local community. We'll spend two nights in the rural mountains and nature preserve of Santa Juana, learning about traditional culture and sleeping in luxurious eco-lodges serenaded by exotic birdsongs and nourishing our bodies with farm-to-table homemade dishes. With local guides, including your yoga teacher, a former volunteer teacher in Manuel Antonio, we'll unplug off the grid briefly and revitalize with Mother Nature: hike to a waterfall, swim in the river and Pacific Ocean, practice yoga overlooking the jungle, zip line over the rainforest, admire exotic snakes and butterflies in their sanctuary and scout monkeys, sloths and other wildlife as we beach-hop in Manuel Antonio National Park. We'll stay five nights in the rainforest beach town of Manuel Antonio, living in a luxury villa walking distance from favorite cafes and restaurants, where we'll be treated to delicious meals throughout the week. We'll connect with locals and other travelers through live music and dance and enjoy free time to explore town freely or to book other adventure or nature tours on your own or with new amigos, or friends. We'll gather for twice-daily yoga and meditation sessions and group reflection activities to offer perspective and unwind from our daily outdoor play. Though all activities are optional, they are handpicked with love in hopes of inspiring you to bring home and share the spirit of pura vida.

Mindful Travel...
Root 2 Rise Yoga supports local sustainability and cultural appreciation with our host destinations. This fourth year of our Costa Rica Yoga Retreat, we continue to partner with Santa Juana Eco-Lodging in support of their efforts to preserve natural resources, village traditions and unique wildlife of their mountain region. We continue to support local economy in Manuel Antonio through fair business practice, partnerships and volunteerism. We sponsor local cultural groups to share native traditions with world travellers in hopes of building bridges of peace through the arts and living yoga.

Accommodation Description

The accommodations in Santa Juana for the first 2 nights are shared split-level luxury cabins, or casitas, with high vaulted ceilings and panoramic terraces overlooking Manuel Antonio National Park and Pacific coast. The cabins, or casitas, sit on natural hillside terraces, and in order to conserve precious hardwoods, over 85% of the lumber utilized came from farm grown Melina, Teak and Pine products. Each casita has a king-sized bed, two sofa beds, kitchenette, and bathroom with spacious slate shower. Amenities include 3 functional ceiling fans, refrigerator, stove with range, microwave and coffee maker plus DVD movie library. Adjacent to the casitas on the top of the hill is the El Mirador restaurant where you will be served homemade farm-to-table breakfast, lunch and dinner. Santa Juana is a small village surrounded by vast luscious nature. The weather is warm (70s-80s F) and tends to receive more rain than Manuel Antonio, especially in the early morning and late evenings, enabling fertile green mountains.

The accommodation in Manuel Antonio for the last 5 nights is a shared multi-story luxury villa on the hilltop center of town. There are 6-8 guest bedrooms, each with one queen-sized bed, so participants can choose a single room or share it with a friend who is attending the retreat. Our communal space includes 3-4 living rooms, a dining room, 1-2 fully-equipped kitchens, spacious balcony lounge areas overlooking the rainforest and Pacific Ocean and an outdoor swimming pool with barbeque deck. Beaches, hiking trails, restaurants, live music cafes, grocery and souvenir stores, public transportation and national park are walking distance. Our location provides easy access for getting around town on foot, taxi or bus, and live like a local. The weather in Manuel Antonio in July is warm (70s-80s F) and humid and may rain briefly in the early mornings and evenings, opening clear skies and fresh air for daytime outdoor play.
