Yoga & Biomatic Anatomy

Our daily Yoga practice, in conjunction with the principles of Biomatic Anatomy, will bring harmony to our body, mind and emotional state. Emphasising on linking movement with breath as well as bringing our awareness into the lightness and transparency of our body/spirit, will increase the energy flow and open generously space for bliss.

Biomatic Anatomy is a holistic approach of body perception and movement, the result of continuous study and research of it’s founder Apostolia Papadamaki. Aims to remind us the primary instincts of movement and gain experiential and theoretical knowledge of the human skeleton, the joints and how they work.

im-PULSE DANCE

Everything in nature is Pulse! Through movement and dance we connect with our deeper self and relax the mind. Structured through Apostolia’s deep experience in contact improvisation, release techniques and Osho Kundalini meditation, this spiritual language speaks where words fail; an abundance of bliss in the heart of existence is created.Music and rhythm indulges the body to overcome all restrictions until we reach our abundant and joyful self.

Floating Body

We all come from the womb of our mother and we have experienced “floating”. In Floating Body,as we float at the sea surface, we take advantage from the absence of gravity in order to release the vertebrae and to allow the spine to move in ways that are not possible on the ground. Our connection with breath takes on a new dimension.

Travel with a group of change-makers to help refugees conduct a healthier life as well as acquire skills that they need to rebuild their lives.

    • Country: Greece
    • Base Price: $4,500.00
    • Start Date: 6/9/2017 (June)
    • End Date: 6/14/2017 (June)

    DETAILS

More than 60.000 people are stuck in Greece. They have escaped the war and misery in their countries and can’t continue further into Europe because the borders are closed. The need of physical and emotional healing is apparent within the refugee communities. But at the same time, these families are in critical need of a roof over their heads, basic sanitation facilities and classrooms that help provide children with a safe environment and education for months, years to come.

With 109 World, you can fully grasp the occurring refugee crisis and understand what things to be done if you actually experience the connection with people behind the headlines, learn about their stories and see the situation they are in. Through joining this trip, you will be able to raise a considerable amount of funding for the operations of The Worldwide Tribe, in Greece and around Europe where the need is equally pressing. The community space where you will be active provides a safer space to learn and most importantly, for children to express themselves in these extremely challenging times.

109 World offers different schedules for every day, but it will always be started with an empowering yoga class and you will enjoy all meals together. The schedule is a blend of yoga, cultural experiences to explore the country you are in, and hands-on work together with the refugees staying in the camp in Oinofyta, located 40 minutes away. Your days will be spent with The Worldwide Tribe and Armando Aid. This project works alongside refugees from Oinofyta to create a space for everyone where they can start to rebuild the community. Together with the refugee community of Oinofyta, you will engage in different activities that aim to give people on the run for their lives a purpose and a feeling of belonging.

    Schedule/Itinerary

Example activities besides doing yoga, discover Greece and connect with other participants and community members:

    • - Sorting donations: the non-profit organizations working on the ground receives a lot of in-kind donations which has to be sorted and distributed in a fair and timely way.
    • - Painting a mural: living in old warehouses and old tents does not inspire well-being, happiness or creativity, it is important to create a warm environment to ease the hardships even just a tiny bit.
    • - Helping with the garden: a garden provides both nutrition and a beautiful time passing activity for the residents of the camp.
    • - Putting up shade covers to prepare the camp / school for the summer: while winters are very cold, summers get extremely hot.
    • - Painting the classrooms: a joyful environment might not guarantee your safety but it will give you a more positive memory and state of mind.

    Detailed Description

    FLOW FOR THE WEEK

Supreme self-care and absolute enjoyment of life are the central themes of this retreat. As such, days will be spent in slow paced pursuit of a sense of wonder and play, experienced through immersion in spectacular natural surroundings and through rejuvenating rituals for beauty and balance. Evenings designed for peace, quiet and reflection will culminate in a dreamy sleep under a sky full of stars.

    LOCATION

Referred to as “the pearl of the south pacific,” Rarotonga is the stuff dreams are made of- epic, jungle-clad mountains cascade to sparkling, sapphire blue lagoons and spectacular coral reefs. Secluded white sand beaches sparkle and contrast dramatically against the volcanic peaks and lush rainforest landscapes that define the island’s interior. Beyond the stunning natural beauty, Rarotonga is the spiritual and cultural center of the Cook Islands, her people, true lovers of life and the epitome of warmth and welcoming. Here, time slows to the pace of nature, inviting you to relax and rediscover the joy of simply being.

    YOGA AND MEDITATION

Daily yoga classes are designed to support students in exploring and deepening their practice. Sessions can range from slow, deep stretching and therapeutic themes, to more challenging, vinyasa flow style classes. Morning meditations offer participants an opportunity to experience a range of techniques emphasizing simple methods that can be integrated into daily life.

Certified yoga instructor, Thai yoga massage therapist and Chrysalis Yoga Retreats Founder, Kim Wolff, will lead our daily yoga and meditation classes, providing gentle guidance and focused support while allowing space for each student to find their own connection to the practice. Soulful and playful by nature, Kim’s class sessions are based on classical Hatha yoga philosophy, postures, breath work and the principles of Ayurveda. Organic aromatherapy is used as a therapeutic tool to assist with the process of healing and transformation.

    * All classes and activities are optional. Our program is designed to meet you where you’re at physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. We encourage you to participate in a way that best suits your body, mind and spirit. Practitioners of all levels are welcome, including those with no prior experience.

    CUISINE

All cuisine served during our retreat will highlight fresh, local, seasonal, organic ingredients and will be primarily vegetarian + pescatarian with vegan and gluten free options available. Our culinary journey will begin each day with a healthy, high-vibe tropical breakfast served on-site at our retreat center. Lunch and dinner will either be served in house or at specially selected locations in and around the island. We’ll have the opportunity to partake of traditional fare cooked in earthen ovens, enjoy a fresh fish bbq on the beach, indulge in an evening of fine dining at Rarotonga’s “Restaurant of the Year,” and savor a seaside supper right on the sand to allow for optimal sunset viewing- a magical experience not to be missed. We’ll also visit the Muri Night Market which features a great selection of food stalls where we’ll sample local cuisine while enjoying live music under the stars.
