Where does your yoga story begin?

Back in 2004, I bought 2 Yoga DVDs with Rodney Yee, and there I fell in love with how I started feeling. Got pregnant in August 2004 and bought another dvd Prenatal Yoga, practiced during all my first and second pregnancies with that dvd until week 35. My 3rd pregnancy, due to a high risk and bed rest along all the pregnancy, I couldn't practice.

All 3 postpartum I tried to find the time to get into Rodney Yee DVDs again. I always moved in and out of some physical practice since 2004. In 2010 I downloaded an app on my iPad and since then I have built a solid daily asana practice and developed an "out of the mat" practice! Joining IG (Instagram) flipped my whole practice pushing me to join a Yoga Teacher training in January 2013, a 200 hour Hatha Yoga training. This year in January I begun teaching on my rooftop.

What got you hooked?

The wonderful feeling in my body and in my mind, being a mom of 3 kids each day I got on my mat I felt more patient with my kids, more balanced... I needed to get on the mat daily.

Tell us one weird/interesting fact about yourself:

My username or nickname is Nerguita. My mother tongue is Spanish, and when I was little my uncle called me Negrita. In Spanish, Negro or Negra means Black, Negrita is Blacky or Blacksie. My uncle said Negrita and I answered in my baby language Nerguita... Sooo it's a mispelled word , baby talk!

What do you love the most about traveling?
Knowing different cultures, the food, the people and landscapes. I love to enjoy sunrise and sunsets when I travel, I must try more yoga on my trips... If the kids let me jajajaja!

Where would you most love to travel and why?

Asia definitely. My husband traveled all south east India before getting married and when we got married we went to Thailand and Indonesia. I dreamLaura to go back.

If you were stuck on an island with only one thing, what would it be?
My husband. I know he is not a "thing," but I don't need my yoga mat to get my yoga anywhere!
Okay, one "thing"? My endless glass of water to hydrate my body after each yoga practice. Being stuck on an island means yoga.

What’s your number one piece of advice for someone just getting into yoga?
To any who is beginning a yoga practice, live each second on the mat with complete presence and consciousness of the moment. Feel each exhalation and inhalation and you will feel the benefit of practicing yoga each day, and you will come back to your mat daily even without understanding what's happening!! Soon you will understand it and love it more!

Anything else?
Live with intention... As you think of an intention whenever you go to a yoga class or at home, do it daily. As you open your eyes and begin your day, focus on your breathing, close your eyes and bring an intention to that day, to each task you begin. You will see the results fast.
